Summer
NEW BEGINNINGS "ZOOM ZOOM” SUMMER CAMP
Funded through the Summer Youth Program Fund (SYPF) and other local collaborators, New Beginnings operates an academic and recreational summer camp that begins when the first school system ends its academic school year and the summer camp continues until all the children have returned to school for the new academic school year. Our children participate in a wealth of engaging and fun-filled activities, ranging from academics to physical fitness to STEM and fieldtrips. These activities include:
- EDUCATION TIME: Children work on academic programs (math and reading) for a minimum of 45 minutes
- KARATE CLASSES: Children take Karate classes focusing on self-confidence, self-discipline, and self-control
- GIRL SCOUTS- STEM SESSIONS: Girls and boys participate in hands-on STEM activities
- READING PROGRAMS: Reading Excites Every Student Every Second (R.E.E.S.E.S) - Children participate in the summer reading programs at the Haughville Library
- LET’S MOVE: Children exercise to music and play outside each day. Proper form and technique are taught.
- SPLASH ISLAND FAMILY WATERPARK: Children participate in the swimming sessions at Splash Island. Swimming to music is a big hit with the children!!!
- ROLLER CITY FIELD TRIPS AND STEAM SESSIONS: Students participate in skating sessions and learn the connection to STEAM.
- FIELD TRIPS TO THE INDIANAPOLIS ZOO: Students visit the Indianapolis Zoo and learn about land and water animals from around the world
- INDIANA FEVER BASKETBALL GAMES: Students attend Indiana Fever basketball games through donations from the Community Ticket Program and McCoy’s Summer Learning Day
- STUDENT RUN BUSINESS "SAY CHEESE” – Students operate a photography business. The students’ assignments include: photographer, sales, marketing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- 3E= EDUCATION, EAT RIGHT, EXERCISE: Students engage in physical fitness, exercise, and nutrition education programs designed to help children and their families live healthy lifestyles.
